Surah Kahf or Surah Al-Kahf is among the most popular Surahs of the Holy Quran and is recited by millions of Muslims globally on Friday. It is the 18th chapter of the Holy Quran and was reveled in Mecca.
This Surah tells us the story of the people of the cave who were hidden from the non-believers with the will of Allah and remained asleep for years. They are the best examples of having strong faith and belief in Allah and staying humble and thankful to him.

1. ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَلَمْ يَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عِوَجَاۜ
Transliteration:
Al-ḥamdu lillāhi-l-ladhī anzala ‘alā ‘abdihi-l-kitāba wa-lam yaj‘al lahu ‘iwajān
Translation:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance.
2. قَيِّمًۭا لِّيُنذِرَ بَأْسًۭا شَدِيدًۭا مِّن لَّدُنْهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًۭا
Transliteration:
Qayyiman li-yundhira ba’san shadīdān min ladunhu wa-yubashshira-l-mu’minīna-l-ladhīna ya‘malūna ṣ-ṣāliḥāti anna lahum ajran ḥasanā
Translation:
[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward.
3. مَّـٰكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Mākithīna fīhi abadan
Translation:
In which they will remain forever.
4. وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-yundhira-l-ladhīna qālū ittakhadha-llāhu waladā
Translation:
And to warn those who say, “Allah has taken a son.”
5. مَّا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍۢ وَلَا لِـَٔابَآئِهِمْ ۚ كَبُرَتْ كَلِمَةًۭ تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ ۚ إِن يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبًۭا
Transliteration:
Mā lahum bihi min ‘ilmin wa-lā li-ābā’ihim kaburat kalimatan takhruju min afwāhihim in yaqūlūna illā kadhibā
Translation:
They have no knowledge of it, nor do their forefathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie.
6. فَلَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعٌۭ نَّفْسَكَ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ إِن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا
Transliteration:
Fa-la‘allaka bākhi‘un nafsaka ‘alā āthārihim in lam yu’minū bi-hādhā-l-ḥadīthi asafā
Translation:
Then perhaps you would kill yourself through grief over them, [O Muhammad], if they do not believe in this message, [and] out of sorrow.
7. إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ زِينَةًۭ لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًۭا
Transliteration:
Innā ja‘alnā mā ‘alā-l-arḍi zīnatan lahā li-nabluwahum ayyuhum aḥsanu ‘amala
Translation:
Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed.
8. وَإِنَّا لَجَـٰعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًۭا جُرُزًا
Transliteration:
Wa-innā la-jā‘ilūna mā ‘alayhā ṣa‘īdan juruzā
Translation:
And indeed, We will make that which is upon it [into] a barren ground.
9. أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلْكَهْفِ وَٱلرَّقِيمِ كَانُوا۟ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا عَجَبًا
Transliteration:
Am ḥasibta anna aṣḥāba-l-kahfi wa-r-raqīmi kānū min āyātinā ‘ajabā
Translation:
Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder?
10. إِذْ أَوَى ٱلْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى ٱلْكَهْفِ فَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةًۭ وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Idh awā-l-fityatu ilā-l-kahfi fa-qālū rabbanā ātinā min ladunka raḥmatan wa-hayyi’ lanā min amrinā rashadā
Translation:
[Mention] when the youths retreated to the cave and said, “Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.”
11. فَضَرَبْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ فِى ٱلْكَهْفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-ḍarabnā ‘alā ādhānihim fī-l-kahfi sinīna ‘adadā
Translation:
So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years.
12. ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَـٰهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَىُّ ٱلْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَىٰ لِمَا لَبِثُوٓا۟ أَمَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Thumma ba‘athnāhum li-na‘lama ayyul-ḥizbayni aḥṣā limā labithū amadā
Translation:
Then We revived them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time.
13. نَّحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَـٰهُمْ هُدًۭى
Transliteration:
Naḥnu naqṣu ‘alayka naba’ahum bi-l-ḥaqq inna-hum fityatun āmanū bi-rabbihim wa-zidnāhum hudā
Translation:
It is We who relate to you, [O Muhammad], their story in truth. Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.
14. وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا۟ فَقَالُوا۟ رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَـٰهًۭا ۖ لَّقَدْ قُلْنَآ إِذًۭا شَطَطًا
Transliteration:
Wa-rabaṭnā ‘alā qulūbihim idh qāmū fa-qālū rabbunā rabbu-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi lan nad‘uwa min dūnihi ilāhan laqad qulnā idhan shaṭaṭā
Translation:
And We made firm their hearts when they stood up and said, “Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then, an excessive transgression.”
15. هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمُنَا ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةًۭ ۖ لَّوْلَا يَأْتُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۭ بَيِّنٍۢ ۖ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا
Transliteration:
Hā’ulā’i qawmunā ittakhadhū min dūnihi ālihatan lawlā ya’tūna ‘alayhim bi-sulṭānin bayyin fa-man aẓlamu mimmani iftarā ‘alā-llāhi kadhibā
Translation:
These, our people, have taken besides Him deities. Why do they not bring for [worship of] them a clear authority? And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie?
16. وَإِذِ ٱعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ فَأْوُۥٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلْكَهْفِ يَنشُرْ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِهِۦ وَيُهَيِّئْ لَكُم مِّنْ أَمْرِكُم مِّرْفَقًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-idh i‘tazaltumūhum wa-mā ya‘budūna illā-llāha fa’ū ilā-l-kahfi yanshur lakum rabbukum min raḥmatihi wa-yuhayyi’ lakum min amrikum mirfaqā
Translation:
And when you have withdrawn from them and that which they worship other than Allah, retreat to the cave; your Lord will spread out for you of His mercy and will prepare for you from your affair facility.
17. وَتَرَى ٱلشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَت تَّزَٰوَرُ عَن كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا غَرَبَت تَّقْرِضُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَهُمْ فِى فَجْوَةٍۢ مِّنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ مَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ وَلِيًّۭا مُّرْشِدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-tarā-sh-shamsa idhā ṭala‘at tazāwaru ‘an kahfihim dhāta-l-yamīni wa-idhā gharabat taqriḍuhum dhāta-sh-shimāli wa-hum fī fawjatin minhu dhālika min āyāti-llāh man yahdi-llāhu fa-huwa-l-muhtadi wa-man yuḍlil fa-lan tajida lahu waliyyan murshidā
Translation:
And you would have seen the sun, when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left, while they lay in an open space thereof. That was from the signs of Allah. He whom Allah guides is the [rightly] guided, but he whom He leaves astray – never will you find for him a protecting guide.
18. وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ أَيْقَاظًۭا وَهُمْ رُقُودٌۭ ۚ وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ ۖ وَكَلْبُهُم بَـٰسِطٌۭ ذِرَاعَيْهِ بِٱلْوَصِيدِ ۚ لَوِ ٱطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ لَوَلَّيْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِرَارًۭا وَلَمُلِئْتَ مِنْهُمْ رُعْبًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-taḥsabuhum ayqāẓan wa-hum ruqūd wa-nuqallibuhum dhāta-l-yamīni wa-dhāta-sh-shimāl wa-kalbuhum bāsitun dhirā‘ayhi bi-l-waṣīd lawi-ṭṭala‘ta ‘alayhim la-wallayta minhum firārā wa-la-muli’ta minhum ru‘bā
Translation:
And you would think them awake, while they were asleep. And We turned them to the right and to the left, while their dog stretched his forelegs at the entrance. If you had looked at them, you would have turned from them in flight and been filled by them with terror.
19. وَكَذَٰلِكَ بَعَثْنَـٰهُمْ لِيَتَسَآءَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَبِثْنَا يَوْمًا أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍۢ ۚ قَالُوا۟ رَبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثْتُمْ فَٱبْعَثُوٓا۟ أَحَدَكُم بِوَرِقِكُمْ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ فَلْيَنظُرْ أَيُّهَآ أَزْكَىٰ طَعَامًۭا فَلْيَأْتِكُم بِرِزْقٍۢ مِّنْهُ وَلْيَتَلَطَّفْ وَلَا يُشْعِرَنَّ بِكُمْ أَحَدًا
Transliteration:
Wa-ka-dhālika ba‘athnāhum li-yatasā’alū baynahum qāla qā’ilun minhum kam labithtum qālū labithnā yawman aw ba‘ḍa yawmin qālū rabbukum a‘lamu bimā labithtum fa-b‘athū aḥadakum bi-wariqikum hādhihi ilā-l-madīnati fa-l-yanzur ayyuhā azkā ṭa‘āman fa-l-ya’tikum bi-rizqin minhu wa-l-yatalṭaf wa-lā yush‘iranna bikum aḥadā
Translation:
And similarly, We awakened them that they might question one another. Said a speaker from among them, “How long have you remained [here]?” They said, “We have remained a day or part of a day.” They said, “Your Lord is most knowing of how long you remained. So send one of you with this silver coin of yours to the city and let him look to which is the best of food and bring you provision from it, and let him be cautious. And let no one be aware of you.”
20. إِنَّهُمْ إِن يَظْهَرُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ يَرْجُمُوكُمْ أَوْ يُعِيدُوكُمْ فِى مِلَّتِهِمْ وَلَن تُفْلِحُوٓا۟ إِذًا أَبَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Innahum in yaẓharū ‘alaykum yarjumūkum aw yu‘īdūkum fī millatihim wa-lan tufliḥū idhan abadā
Translation:
Indeed, if they come to know of you, they will stone you or return you to their religion. And never would you succeed, then—ever.
21. وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَعْثَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ وَأَنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَآ إِذْ يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ أَمْرَهُمْ ۖ فَقَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ عَلَيْهِم بُنْيَـٰنًۭا ۖ رَّبُّهُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِهِمْ ۚ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ غَلَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِمْ لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ عَلَيْهِم مَّسْجِدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-ka-dhālika a‘tharnā ‘alayhim li-ya‘lamū anna wa‘da-llāhi ḥaqqan wa-anna-s-sā‘ata lā rayba fīhā idh yatānaza‘ūna baynahum amrahum fa-qālū ibnū ‘alayhim bunyānā rabbum a‘lamu bihim qāla-l-ladhīna ghalabū ‘alā amrihim la-nattakhidhanna ‘alayhim masjidā
Translation:
And thus We made [their case] known to the people that they might know that the promise of Allah is truth and that of the Hour there is no doubt. [That was] when they disputed among themselves about their affair and said, “Construct over them a structure. Their Lord is most knowing about them.” Said those who prevailed in the matter, “We will surely take [for ourselves] over them a masjid.”
22. سَيَقُولُونَ ثَلَـٰثَةٌۭ رَّابِعُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ خَمْسَةٌۭ سَادِسُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ رَجْمًۢا بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۖ وَيَقُولُونَ سَبْعَةٌۭ وَثَامِنُهُمْ كَلْبُهُمْ ۚ قُل رَّبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِعِدَّتِهِم مَّا يَعْلَمُهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌۭ ۗ فَلَا تُمَارِ فِيهِمْ إِلَّا مِرَآءًۭ ظَـٰهِرًۭا وَلَا تَسْتَفْتِ فِيهِم مِّنْهُمْ أَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Sayaqūlūna thalāthatun rābi‘uhum kalbuhum wa-yaqūlūna khamsatun sādisuhum kalbuhum rajman bi-l-ghaybi wa-yaqūlūna sab‘atun wa-thāminuhum kalbuhum qul rabbī a‘lamu bi-‘iddatihim mā ya‘lamuhum illā qalīlun fa-lā tumāri fīhim illā mirā’an ẓāhiran wa-lā tastafti fīhim minhum aḥadā
Translation:
They will say, “There were three, the fourth of them being their dog”; and they will say, “There were five, the sixth of them being their dog,” guessing at the unseen; and they will say, “There were seven, the eighth of them was their dog.” Say, “My Lord is most knowing of their number. None knows them except a few. So do not argue about them except with an obvious argument and do not inquire about them among [the speculators] from anyone.”
23. وَلَا تَقُولَنَّ لِشَا۟ىْءٍ إِنِّى فَاعِلٌۭ ذَٰلِكَ غَدًا
Transliteration:
Wa-lā taqūlanna li-shay’in innī fā‘ilun dhālika ghadan
Translation:
And never say of anything, “Indeed, I will do that tomorrow,”
24. إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ وَقُلْ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَهْدِيَنِ رَبِّى لِأَقْرَبَ مِنْ هَـٰذَا رَشَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Illā an yashā’a-llāhu wa-dhkur rabbaka idhā nasīta wa-qul ‘asā an yahdiyanī rabbī li-aqraba min hādhā rashadā
Translation:
Except [when adding], “If Allah wills.” And remember your Lord when you forget and say, “Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to right conduct.”
25. وَلَبِثُوا۟ فِى كَهْفِهِمْ ثَلَـٰثَ مِا۟ئَةٍۢ سِنِينَ وَٱزْدَادُوا۟ تِسْعًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-labithū fī kahfihim thalātha mi’atin sinīna wa-zdādū tis‘ā
Translation:
And they remained in their cave for three hundred years and exceeded by nine.
26. قُلِ ٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا لَبِثُوا۟ ۖ لَهُۥ غَيْبُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ أَبْصِرْ بِهِۦ وَأَسْمِعْ ۚ مَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا يُشْرِكُ فِى حُكْمِهِۦٓ أَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Qul-llāhu a‘lamu bimā labithū lahu ghaybu-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍ abṣir bihi wa-asma‘ mā lahum min dūnihi min waliyyin wa-lā yushriku fī ḥukmihi aḥadā
Translation:
Say, “Allah is most knowing of how long they remained. He has [knowledge of] the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. How Seeing is He and how Hearing! They have not besides Him any protector, and He shares not His legislation with anyone.”
27. وَٱتْلُ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِن كِتَابِ رَبِّكَ ۖ لَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ وَلَن تَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِۦ مُلْتَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-atlu mā ūḥiya ilayka min kitābi rabbika lā mubaddila li-kalimātihi wa-lan tajida min dūnihi multaḥadā
Translation:
And recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. There is no changer of His words, and never will you find in other than Him a refuge.
28. وَٱصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ وَلَا تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُۥ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُۥ فُرُطًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-ṣbir nafsaka ma‘a-l-ladhīna yad‘ūna rabbahum bi-l-ghadāti wa-l-‘ashiyyi yurīdūna wajhahū wa-lā ta‘du ‘aynāka ‘anhum turīdu zīnati-l-ḥayāti-d-dunyā wa-lā tuṭi‘ man aghfalnā qalbahu ‘an dhikrinā wa-ttaba‘a hawāhu wa-kāna amruhu furutā
Translation:
And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His face. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life. And do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect.
29. وَقُلِ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيُؤْمِن وَمَن شَآءَ فَلْيَكْفُرْ ۚ إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ نَارًا أَحَاطَ بِهِمْ سُرَادِقُهَا ۚ وَإِن يَسْتَغِيثُوا۟ يُغَاثُوا۟ بِمَآءٍۢ كَٱلْمُهْلِ يَشْوِى ٱلْوُجُوهَ ۚ بِئْسَ ٱلشَّرَابُ وَسَآءَتْ مُرْتَفَقًا
Transliteration:
Wa-quli-l-ḥaqqu min rabbikum fa-man shā’a fa-l-yu’min wa-man shā’a fa-l-yakfur innā a‘tadnā li-ẓ-ẓālimīna nāran aḥāṭa bihim surādiquhā wa-in yastaghīthū yughāthū bi-mā’in ka-l-muhli yashwī-l-wujūha bi’sa-sh-sharābu wa-sā’at murtafaqā
Translation:
And say, “The truth is from your Lord, so whoever wills—let him believe; and whoever wills—let him disbelieve.” Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will surround them. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like murky oil, which scalds [their] faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place.
30. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ مَنْ أَحْسَنَ عَمَلًا
Transliteration:
Inna-l-ladhīna āmanū wa-‘amilū-ṣ-ṣāliḥāti innā lā nuḍī‘u ajra man aḥsana ‘amalā
Translation:
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds—indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds.
31. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمُ ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ يُحَلَّوْنَ فِيهَا مِنْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن ذَهَبٍۢ وَيَلْبَسُونَ ثِيَابًا خُضْرًۭا مِّن سُندُسٍۢ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ فِيهَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۚ نِعْمَ ٱلثَّوَابُ وَحَسُنَتْ مُرْتَفَقًۭا
Transliteration:
Ulā’ika lahum jannātu ‘adnin tajrī min taḥtihimu-l-anhāru yuḥallawna fīhā min asāwira min dhahabin wa-yalbasūna thiyāban khuḍran min sundusin wa-istabraqin muttakī’īna fīhā ‘alā-l-arā’iki ni‘ma-th-thawābu wa-ḥasunat murtafaqā
Translation:
Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place.
32. وَٱضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلًۭا رَّجُلَيْنِ جَعَلْنَا لِأَحَدِهِمَا جَنَّتَيْنِ مِنْ أَعْنَـٰبٍۢ وَحَفَفْنَـٰهُمَا بِنَخْلٍۢ وَجَعَلْنَا بَيْنَهُمَا زَرْعًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-ḍrib lahum mathalan rajulayni ja‘alnā li-aḥadihimā jannatayni min a‘nābin wa-ḥaffafnāhumā bi-nakhlin wa-ja‘alnā baynahumā zar‘ā
Translation:
And present to them an example of two men: We granted to one of them two gardens of grapevines, and We bordered them with palm trees and placed crops within them.
33. كِلْتَا ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ ءَاتَتْ أُكُلَهَا وَلَمْ تَظْلِم مِّنْهُ شَيْـًۭٔا ۚ وَفَجَّرْنَا خِلَـٰلَهُمَا نَهَرًۭا
Transliteration:
Kiltā-l-jannatayni ātat ukulahā wa-lam taẓlim minhu shay’ā wa-fajjarnā khilālahumā naharā
Translation:
Each of the two gardens produced its fruit and did not fall short thereof in anything. And We caused to gush forth within them a river.
34. وَكَانَ لَهُۥ ثَمَرٌۭ فَقَالَ لِصَـٰحِبِهِۦ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَنَا۠ أَكْثَرُ مِنكَ مَالًۭا وَأَعَزُّ نَفَرًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-kāna lahu thamarun fa-qāla li-ṣāḥibihi wa-huwa yuḥāwiruhu anā aktharu minka mālan wa-a‘azzu nafarā
Translation:
And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, “I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men.”
35. وَدَخَلَ جَنَّتَهُۥ وَهُوَ ظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ قَالَ مَآ أَظُنُّ أَن تَبِيدَ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أَبَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-dakhala jannatahu wa-huwa ẓālimun li-nafsihi qāla mā aẓunnu an tabīda hādhihi abadā
Translation:
And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself. He said, “I do not think that this will perish—ever.
36. وَمَآ أَظُنُّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ قَآئِمَةًۭ وَلَئِن رُّدِدتُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى لَأَجِدَنَّ خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهَا مُنقَلَبًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-mā aẓunnu-s-sā‘ata qā’imatan wa-la’in rudidtu ilā rabbī la-ajidanna khayran minhā munqalabā
Translation:
And I do not think the Hour will occur. And even if I should be brought back to my Lord, I will surely find better than this as a return.”
37. قَالَ لَهُۥ صَاحِبُهُۥ وَهُوَ يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ أَكَفَرْتَ بِٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ مِن تُرَابٍۢ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍۢ ثُمَّ سَوَّىٰكَ رَجُلًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla lahu ṣāḥibuhu wa-huwa yuḥāwiruhu a-kafarta bi-l-ladhī khalaqaka min turābin thumma min nuṭfatin thumma sawwāka rajulā
Translation:
His companion said to him while he was conversing with him, “Have you disbelieved in He who created you from dust and then from a sperm-drop and then proportioned you [as] a man?
38. لَّـٰكِنَّا۠ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ رَبِّى وَلَآ أُشْرِكُ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Lākinna huwa-llāhu rabbī wa-lā ushriku bi-rabbī aḥadā
Translation:
But as for me, He is Allah, my Lord, and I do not associate with my Lord anyone.
39. وَلَوْلَآ إِذْ دَخَلْتَ جَنَّتَكَ قُلْتَ مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِ ۚ إِن تَرَنِ أَنَا۠ أَقَلَّ مِنكَ مَالًۭا وَوَلَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-lawlā idh dakhaltu jannataka qulta mā shā’a-llāhu lā quwwata illā bi-llāh in taranī anā aqalla minka mālan wa-waladā
Translation:
And why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, ‘What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except in Allah’? Although you see me less than you in wealth and children,
40. فَعَسَىٰ رَبِّىٓ أَن يُؤْتِيَنِ خَيْرًۭا مِّن جَنَّتِكَ وَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهَا حُسْبَانًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتُصْبِحَ صَعِيدًۭا زَلَقًا
Transliteration:
Fa-‘asā rabbī an yu’tiyanī khayran min jannatika wa-yursila ‘alayhā ḥusbānan mina-s-samā’i fa-tuṣbiḥa ṣa‘īdan zalaqā
Translation:
It may be that my Lord will give me [something] better than your garden and will send upon it a calamity from the sky, and it will become a smooth, dusty ground,
41. أَوْ يُصْبِحَ مَآؤُهَا غَوْرًۭا فَلَن تَسْتَطِيعَ لَهُۥ طَلَبًۭا
Transliteration:
Aw yuṣbiḥa mā’uhā ghawran fa-lan tastaṭī‘a lahu ṭalabā
Translation:
Or its water will become sunken [into the earth], so you would never be able to seek it.”
42. وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِۦ فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنفَقَ فِيهَا وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-uḥīṭa bi-thamarihi fa-aṣbaḥa yuqallibu kaffayhi ‘alā mā anfaqa fīhā wa-hīya khāwiyatun ‘alā ‘urūshihā wa-yaqūlu yā-laytanī lam ushrik bi-rabbī aḥadā
Translation:
And his fruit was encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, “Oh, I wish I had not associated with my Lord anyone.”
43. وَلَمْ تَكُن لَّهُۥ فِئَةٌۭ يَنصُرُونَهُۥ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مُنتَصِرًا
Transliteration:
Wa-lam takun lahu fi’atun yanṣurūnahu min dūni-llāhi wa-mā kāna muntaṣirā
Translation:
And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor could he defend himself.
44. هُنَالِكَ ٱلْوَلَـٰيَةُ لِلَّهِ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ هُوَ خَيْرٌۭ ثَوَابًۭا وَخَيْرٌ عُقْبًۭا
Transliteration:
Hunālika-l-walāyatu li-llāhi-l-ḥaqq huwa khayrun thawāban wa-khayrun ‘uqbā
Translation:
There the authority is [completely] for Allah, the Truth. He is best in reward and best in outcome.
45. وَٱضْرِبْ لَهُم مَّثَلَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا كَمَآءٍ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَٱخْتَلَطَ بِهِۦ نَبَاتُ ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَصْبَحَ هَشِيمًۭا تَذْرُوهُ ٱلرِّيَـٰحُ ۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ مُّقْتَدِرًا
Transliteration:
Wa-ḍrib lahum mathala-l-ḥayāti-d-dunyā ka-mā’in anzalnāhu mina-s-samā’i fa-ikhtalaṭa bihi nabātu-l-arḍ fa-aṣbaḥa hashīman tadhruhū-r-riyāḥ wa-kāna-llāhu ‘alā kulli shay’in muqtidirā
Translation:
And present to them the example of the life of this world: [Its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability.
46. ٱلْمَالُ وَٱلْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًۭا وَخَيْرٌ أَمَلًۭا
Transliteration:
Al-mālu wa-l-banūna zīnatu-l-ḥayāti-d-dunyā wa-l-bāqiyātu-ṣ-ṣāliḥātu khayrun ‘inda rabbika thawāban wa-khayrun amala
Translation:
Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one’s] hope.
47. وَيَوْمَ نُسَيِّرُ ٱلْجِبَالَ وَتَرَى ٱلْأَرْضَ بَارِزَةًۭ وَحَشَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَلَمْ نُغَادِرْ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-yawma nusayyiru-l-jibāla wa-tarā-l-arḍa bārizatan wa-ḥasharnāhum fa-lam nughādir minhum aḥadā
Translation:
And [warn of] the Day when We will remove the mountains, and you will see the earth prominent, and We will gather them and not leave behind from them anyone.
48. وَعُرِضُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ صَفًّۭا لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمُونَا كَمَا خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۭ ۚ بَلْ زَعَمْتُمْ أَلَّن نَّجْعَلَ لَكُم مَّوْعِدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-‘uriḍū ‘alā rabbika ṣaffan la-qad ji’tumūnā kamā khalaqnākum awwala marratin bal za‘amtum allan naj‘ala lakum maw‘idā
Translation:
And they will be presented before your Lord in rows, [and He will say], “You have certainly come to Us just as We created you the first time. But you claimed that We would not make for you an appointment.”
49. وَوُضِعَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ فَتَرَى ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَنَا مَالِ هَـٰذَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةًۭ وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّآ أَحْصَىٰهَا ۚ وَوَجَدُوا۟ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ حَاضِرًۭا ۗ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-wuḍi‘a-l-kitābu fa-tarā-l-mujrimīna mush’fiqīna mimmā fīhi wa-yaqūlūna yā waylatanā māli hādhā-l-kitābi lā yughādiru ṣaghīratan wa-lā kabīratan illā aḥṣāhā wa-wajadū mā ‘amilū ḥāḍirā wa-lā yaẓlimu rabbuka aḥadā
Translation:
And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, “Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?” And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one.
50. وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِـَٔادَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِۦٓ ۗ أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُۥ وَذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِى وَهُمْ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۢ ۚ بِئْسَ لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بَدَلًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-idh qul’nā li-l-malā’ikati us’judū li-ādama fa-sajadū illā ibrīsa kāna mina-l-jinni fa-fasaqa ‘an amri rabbihi afatattakhidhūnahu wa-dhurriyyatahu awliyā’a min dūnī wa-hum lakum ‘aduwwā bi’sa li-ẓ-ẓālimīna badalā
Translation:
And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam,” and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.
51. مَّآ أَشْهَدتُّهُمْ خَلْقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا خَلْقَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَمَا كُنتُ مُتَّخِذَ ٱلْمُضِلِّينَ عَضُدًۭا
Transliteration:
Mā ash’hadtuhum khalqa-s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi wa-lā khalqa anfusihim wa-mā kuntu muttakhidha-l-muḍillīna ‘aḍudā
Translation:
I did not make them witness to the creation of the heavens and the earth or to the creation of themselves, and I would not have taken the misguiders as assistants.
52. وَيَوْمَ يَقُولُ نَادُوا۟ شُرَكَآءِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّوْبِقًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-yawma yaqūlu nādū shurakā’iya l-ladhīna za‘amtum fa-da‘awhum fa-lam yastajībū lahum wa-ja‘alnā baynahum mawbiqā
Translation:
And [warn of] the Day when He will say, “Call My ‘partners’ whom you claimed,” and they will call upon them, but they will not respond to them. And We will put between them [a valley of] destruction.
53. وَرَءَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ٱلنَّارَ فَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُم مُّوَاقِعُوهَا وَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ عَنْهَا مَصْرِفًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-ra’ā-l-mujrimūna-n-nāra fa-ẓannū annahum mawāqi‘ūhā wa-lam yajidū ‘anhā maṣrifā
Translation:
And the criminals will see the Fire and will be certain that they are to fall therein. And they will not find from it a way elsewhere.
54. وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِى هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ لِلنَّاسِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٍۢ ۚ وَكَانَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَكْثَرَ شَىْءٍۢ جَدَلًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-laqad ṣarrafnā fī hādhā-l-qur’āni li-n-nāsi min kulli mathalin wa-kāna-l-insānu akthara shay’in jadalā
Translation:
And We have certainly diversified in this Qur’an for the people from every [kind of] example. But man has ever been, most of anything, [prone to] dispute.
55. وَمَا مَنَعَ ٱلنَّاسَ أَن يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ سُنَّةُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ أَوْ يَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ قُبُلًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-mā mana‘a-n-nāsa an yu’minū idh jā’ahumu-l-hudā wa-yastaghfirū rabbahum illā an ta’tīyahum sunnatu-l-awwalīna aw ya’tiyahumu-l-‘adhābu qubulā
Translation:
And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that [there must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former [peoples] or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.
56. وَمَا نُرْسِلُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ ۚ وَيُجَـٰدِلُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا۟ بِهِ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ وَٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِى وَمَآ أُنذِرُوا۟ هُزُوًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-mā nursilu-l-mursalīna illā mubashshirīna wa-mundhirīna wa-yujādilu-l-ladhīna kafarū bi-l-bāṭili li-yudh’ḥiḍū bihi-l-ḥaqqa wa-ttakhadhū āyātī wa-mā undhirū huzūā
Translation:
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth, and they have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.
57. وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا وَنَسِىَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ ۚ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًۭا ۖ وَإِن تَدْعُهُمْإِلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ فَلَن يَهْتَدُوٓا۟ إِذًا أَبَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-man aẓlamu mimman dhukkira bi-āyāti rabbihi fa-a‘raḍa ‘anhā wa-nasiya mā qaddamat yadāhu innā ja‘alnā ‘alā qulūbihim akinnatan an yafqahūhu wa-fī ādhānihim waqran wa-in tad‘uhum ilā-l-hudā fa-lan yahtadū idhan abadā
Translation:
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed coverings over their hearts, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance—they will never be guided, then—ever.
58. وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ذُو ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۖ لَوْ يُؤَاخِذُهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوا۟ لَعَجَّلَ لَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ۚ بَل لَّهُم مَّوْعِدٌۭ لَّن يَجِدُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦ مَوْئِلًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-rabbuka-l-ghafūru dhū-r-raḥmah law yu’ākhidhuhum bimā kasabū la-‘ajjala lahumu-l-‘adhāb bal lahum maw‘idun lan yajidū min dūnihi maw’ilā
Translation:
And your Lord is the Forgiving, Full of Mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. But for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.
59. وَتِلْكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا۟ وَجَعَلْنَا لِمَهْلِكِهِم مَّوْعِدًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-tilka-l-qurā ahlaknāhum lammā ẓalamū wa-ja‘alnā limahlikihim maw‘idā
Translation:
And those cities—We destroyed them when they wronged, and We made for their destruction an appointed time.
60. وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِفَتَىٰهُ لَآ أَبْرَحُ حَتَّىٰٓ أَبْلُغَ مَجْمَعَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ أَوْ أَمْضِىَ حُقُبًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-idh qāla mūsā lifatāhu lā abraḥu ḥattā ablugha majma‘a-l-baḥrayni aw amḍiya ḥuqubā
Translation:
And [mention] when Moses said to his servant, “I will not cease [traveling] until I reach the junction of the two seas or continue for a long period.”
61. فَلَمَّا بَلَغَا مَجْمَعَ بَيْنِهِمَا نَسِيَا حُوتَهُمَا فَٱتَّخَذَ سَبِيلَهُۥ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ سَرَبًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-lammā balaghā majma‘a baynihimā nasiya ḥūtahumā fa-ttakhadha sabīlahu fī-l-baḥri sarabā
Translation:
But when they reached the junction between them, they forgot their fish, and it took its course into the sea, slipping away
62. فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَا قَالَ لِفَتَىٰهُ ءَاتِنَا غَدَآءَنَا لَقَدْ لَقِينَا مِن سَفَرِنَا هَـٰذَا نَصَبًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-lammā jāwazā qāla lifatāhu ātinā ghadā’anā laqad laqīnā min safarinā hādhā naṣabā
Translation:
So when they had passed beyond it, [Moses] said to his boy, “Bring us our morning meal. We have certainly suffered in this, our journey, [much] fatigue.”
63. قَالَ أَرَءَيْتَ إِذْ أَوَيْنَآ إِلَى ٱلصَّخْرَةِ فَإِنِّى نَسِيتُ ٱلْحُوتَ وَمَآ أَنسَىٰنِيهُ إِلَّا ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَهُۥ ۚ وَٱتَّخَذَ سَبِيلَهُۥ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ عَجَبًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla ara’ayta idh awaynā ilā-ṣ-ṣakhrati fa-innī nasītu-l-ḥūta wa-mā ansānīhu illā-sh-shayṭānu an adhkurahu wa-ttakhadha sabīlahu fī-l-baḥri ‘ajabā
Translation:
He said, “Did you see when we retired to the rock? Indeed, I forgot the fish. And none made me forget it except Satan—that I should mention it. And it took its course into the sea amazingly.”
64. قَالَ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنَّا نَبْغِ ۚ فَٱرْتَدَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَارِهِمَا قَصَصًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla dhālika mā kunnā nabgh fa-rtaddā ‘alā āthārihimā qaṣaṣā
Translation:
[Moses] said, “That is what we were seeking.” So they returned, following their footprints.
65. فَوَجَدَا عَبْدًۭا مِّنْ عِبَادِنَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ رَحْمَةًۭ مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّا عِلْمًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-wajadā ‘abdan min ‘ibādinā ātaynāhu raḥmatan min ‘indinā wa-‘allamnāhu min ladunnā ‘ilmā
Translation:
And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom We had given mercy from Us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge.
66. قَالَ لَهُۥ مُوسَىٰ هَلْ أَتَّبِعُكَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تُعَلِّمَنِ مِمَّا عُلِّمْتَ رُشْدًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla lahu mūsā hal attabi‘uka ‘alā an tu‘allimanī mimma ‘ullimta rushdā
Translation:
Moses said to him, “May I follow you on [the condition] that you teach me from what you have been taught of sound judgment?”
67. قَالَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla innaka lan tastaṭī‘a ma‘iya ṣabrā
Translation:
He said, “Indeed, with me you will never be able to have patience.”
68. وَكَيْفَ تَصْبِرُ عَلَىٰ مَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِۦ خُبْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-kayfa taṣbiru ‘alā mā lam tuḥiṭ bihi khubrā
Translation:
“And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in knowledge?”
69. قَالَ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ صَابِرًۭا وَلَآ أَعْصِى لَكَ أَمْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla satajidunī in shā’a-llāhu ṣābirā wa-lā a‘ṣī laka amrā
Translation:
[Moses] said, “You will find me, if Allah wills, patient, and I will not disobey you in [any] order.”
70. قَالَ فَإِنِ ٱتَّبَعْتَنِى فَلَا تَسْـَٔلْنِى عَن شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰٓ أُحْدِثَ لَكَ مِنْهُ ذِكْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla fa-in ittaba‘tanī fa-lā tas’alnī ‘an shay’in ḥattā uḥditha laka minhu dhikrā
Translation:
He said, “Then if you follow me, do not ask me about anything until I make to you mention of it.”
71. فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَكِبَا فِى ٱلسَّفِينَةِ خَرَقَهَا ۖ قَالَ أَخَرَقْتَهَا لِتُغْرِقَ أَهْلَهَا لَقَدْ جِئْتَ شَيْـًٔا إِمْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-nṭalaqā ḥattā idhā rakibā fī-s-safīnati kharaqahā qāla akharaqtahā li-tughriqa ahlahā laqad ji’ta shay’an imrā
Translation:
So they set out, until when they had embarked on the ship, he tore it open. [Moses] said, “Have you torn it open to drown its people? You have certainly done a grave thing.”
72. قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla a-lam aqul innaka lan tastaṭī‘a ma‘iya ṣabrā
Translation:
[Al-Khidr] said, “Did I not say that with me you would never be able to have patience?”
73. قَالَ لَا تُؤَاخِذْنِى بِمَا نَسِيتُ وَلَا تُرْهِقْنِى مِنْ أَمْرِى عُسْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla lā tu’ākhidhnī bimā nasītu wa-lā turhiqnī min amrī ‘usrā
Translation:
[Moses] said, “Do not blame me for what I forgot and do not cover me in my matter with difficulty.”
74. فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا لَقِيَا غُلَـٰمًۭا فَقَتَلَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ أَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًۭا زَكِيَّةًۢ بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍۢ لَّقَدْ جِئْتَ شَيْـًۭٔا نُّكْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-nṭalaqā ḥattā idhā laqiyā ghulāman fa-qatalahu qāla aqatalta nafsan zakiyyatan bighayri nafs laqad ji’ta shay’an nukrā
Translation:
So they set out, until when they met a boy, he killed him. [Moses] said, “Have you killed a pure soul for other than [having killed] a soul? You have certainly done a deplorable thing.”
75. قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكَ إِنَّكَ لَن تَسْتَطِيعَ مَعِىَ صَبْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla a-lam aqul laka innaka lan tastaṭī‘a ma‘iya ṣabrā
Translation:
[Al-Khidr] said, “Did I not tell you that with me you would never be able to have patience?”
76. قَالَ إِن سَأَلْتُكَ عَن شَىْءٍۭ بَعْدَهَا فَلَا تُصَـٰحِبْنِى ۖ قَدْ بَلَغْتَ مِن لَّدُنِّى عُذْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla in sa’altuka ‘an shay’in ba‘dahā fa-lā tuṣāḥibnī qad balaghta min ladunnī ‘udhrā
Translation:
[Moses] said, “If I should ask you about anything after this, then do not keep me as a companion. You have obtained from me an excuse.”
77. فَٱنطَلَقَا حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَيَآ أَهْلَ قَرْيَةٍ ٱسْتَطْعَمَآ أَهْلَهَا فَأَبَوْا۟ أَن يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا فَوَجَدَا فِيهَا جِدَارًۭا يُرِيدُ أَن يَنقَضَّ فَأَقَامَهُۥ ۖ قَالَ لَوْ شِئْتَ لَتَّخَذْتَ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-nṭalaqā ḥattā idhā atayā ahla qaryatin isṭaṭ‘amā ahlahā fa-abaw an yuḍayyifūhumā fa-wajadā fīhā jidāran yurīdu an yanqaḍḍa fa-aqāmahu qāla law shi’ta lattakhadhta ‘alayhi ajrā
Translation:
So they set out, until when they came to the people of a town, they asked its people for food, but they refused to offer them hospitality. And they found therein a wall about to collapse, so he restored it. [Moses] said, “If you wished, you could have taken for it a payment.”
78. قَالَ هَـٰذَا فِرَاقُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنِكَ ۚ سَأُنَبِّئُكَ بِتَأْوِيلِ مَا لَمْ تَسْتَطِع عَّلَيْهِ صَبْرًا
Transliteration:
Qāla hādhā firāqu baynī wa-baynika sa-unabbi’uka bita’wīli mā lam tastaṭi‘ ‘alayhi ṣabrā
Translation:
[Al-Khidr] said, “This is parting between me and you. I will inform you of the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience.”
79. أَمَّا ٱلسَّفِينَةُ فَكَانَتْ لِمَسَـٰكِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ فَأَرَدتُّ أَنْ أَعِيبَهَا وَكَانَ وَرَآءَهُم مَّلِكٌۭ يَأْخُذُ كُلَّ سَفِينَةٍ غَصْبًۭا
Transliteration:
Amma-s-safīnatu fa-kānat limasākīna ya‘malūna fī-l-baḥr fa-aradtu an a‘ībahā wa-kāna warā’ahum malikun ya’khudhu kulla safīnatin ghaṣbā
Translation:
“As for the ship, it belonged to poor people working at sea. So I intended to cause defect in it as there was after them a king who seized every [good] ship by force.”
80. وَأَمَّا ٱلْغُلَـٰمُ فَكَانَ أَبَوَاهُ مُؤْمِنَيْنِ فَخَشِينَآ أَن يُرْهِقَهُمَا طُغْيَـٰنًۭا وَكُفْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-amma-l-ghulāmu fa-kāna abawāhu mu’minayni fa-khashinā an yurhiqahumā ṭughyānā wa-kufrā
Translation:
“And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief.”
81. فَأَرَدْنَآ أَن يُبْدِلَهُمَا رَبُّهُمَا خَيْرًۭا مِّنْهُ زَكَوٰةًۭ وَأَقْرَبَ رُحْمًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-aradnā an yubdilahumā rabbuhumā khayran minhu zakātan wa-aqraba ruḥmā
Translation:
“So we intended that their Lord should substitute for them one better than him in purity and nearer to mercy.”
82. وَأَمَّا ٱلْجِدَارُ فَكَانَ لِغُلَـٰمَيْنِ يَتِيمَيْنِ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَكَانَ تَحْتَهُۥ كَنزٌۭ لَّهُمَا وَكَانَ أَبُوهُمَا صَـٰلِحًۭا فَأَرَادَ رَبُّكَ أَن يَبْلُغَآ أَشُدَّهُمَا وَيَسْتَخْرِجَا كَنزَهُمَا رَحْمَةًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ ۚ وَمَا فَعَلْتُهُۥ عَنْ أَمْرِى ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَأْوِيلُ مَا لَمْ تَسْطِع عَّلَيْهِ صَبْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-amma-l-jidāru fa-kāna lighulāmayni yatīmayni fī-l-madīnati wa-kāna tahtahu kanzun lahumā wa-kāna abūhumā ṣāliḥā fa-arāda rabbuka an yablughā ashuddahumā wa-yastakhrijā kanzahumā raḥmatan min rabbika wa-mā fa’altuhu ‘an amrī dhālika ta’wīlu mā lam tasṭi‘ ‘alayhi ṣabrā
Translation:
“And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience.”
83. وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَن ذِى ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ ۖ قُلْ سَأَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْهُ ذِكْرًا
Transliteration:
Wa-yas’alūnaka ‘an dhī-l-qarnayn qul sa-atlū ‘alaykum minhu dhikrā
Translation:
And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about Dhul-Qarnayn. Say, “I will recite to you about him a report.
84. إِنَّا مَكَّنَّا لَهُۥ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ مِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ سَبَبًۭا
Transliteration:
Innā makkannā lahu fī-l-arḍi wa-ātaynāhu min kulli shay’in sababā
Translation:
Indeed, We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way.
85. فَأَتْبَعَ سَبَبًا
Transliteration:
Fa-atba‘a sababā
Translation:
So he followed a way.
86. حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَغْرِبَ ٱلشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَغْرُبُ فِى عَيْنٍ حَمِئَةٍۢ وَوَجَدَ عِندَهَا قَوْمًۭا ۗ قُلْنَا يَـٰذَا ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ إِمَّآ أَن تُعَذِّبَ وَإِمَّآ أَن تَتَّخِذَ فِيهِمْ حُسْنًۭا
Transliteration:
Ḥattā idhā balagha maghriba-sh-shamsi wajadahā taghrubu fī ‘aynin ḥami’atin wa-wajada ‘indahā qawman qulna yā dhā-l-qarnayni immā an tu‘adhdhiba wa-immā an tattakhidha fīhim ḥusnā
Translation:
Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, “O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness.”
87. قَالَ أَمَّا مَن ظَلَمَ فَسَوْفَ نُعَذِّبُهُۥ ثُمَّ يُرَدُّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ عَذَابًۭا نُّكْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla ammā man ẓalama fa-sawfa nu‘adhdhibuhu thumma yuraddu ilā rabbihi fa-yu‘adhdhibuhu ‘adhāban nukrā
Translation:
He said, “As for one who wrongs, we will punish him. Then he will be returned to his Lord, and He will punish him with a terrible punishment.”
88. وَأَمَّا مَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًۭا فَلَهُۥ جَزَآءً ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ وَسَنَقُولُ لَهُۥ مِنْ أَمْرِنَا يُسْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-ammā man āmana wa-‘amila ṣāliḥan fa-lahu jazā’u-l-ḥusnā wa-sanaqūlu lahu min amrinā yusrā
Translation:
But as for one who believes and does righteousness, he will have a reward of the best [kind], and we will speak to him from our command with ease.
89. ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَ سَبَبًا
Transliteration:
Thumma atba‘a sababā
Translation:
Then he followed a way.
90. حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ مَطْلِعَ ٱلشَّمْسِ وَجَدَهَا تَطْلُعُ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍۢ لَّمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُم مِّن دُونِهَا سِتْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Ḥattā idhā balagha maṭli‘a-sh-shamsi wajadahā taṭlu‘u ‘alā qawmin lam naj‘al lahum min dūnihā sitrā
Translation:
Until, when he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had not made against it any shield.
91. كَذَٰلِكَ وَقَدْ أَحَطْنَا بِمَا لَدَيْهِ خُبْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Ka-dhālika wa-qad aḥaṭnā bimā ladayhi khubrā
Translation:
Thus [it was], and We had encompassed [all] that he had in knowledge.
92. ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَ سَبَبًا
Transliteration:
Thumma atba‘a sababā
Translation:
Then he followed a way.
93. حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ بَيْنَ ٱلسَّدَّيْنِ وَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمَا قَوْمًۭا لَّا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ قَوْلًۭا
Transliteration:
Ḥattā idhā balagha bayna-s-saddayni wajada min dūnihimā qawman lā yakādūna yafqahūna qawl
Translation:
Until, when he reached [a pass] between two mountains, he found beside them a people who could hardly understand [his] speech.
94. قَالُوا۟ يَـٰذَا ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ إِنَّ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَهَلْ نَجْعَلُ لَكَ خَرْجًا عَلَىٰٓ أَن تَجْعَلَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ سَدًّۭا
Transliteration:
Qālū yā dhā-l-qarnayni inna ya’jūja wa-ma’jūja mufsiddūna fī-l-arḍ fa-hala naj‘alu laka kharjan ‘alā an taj‘ala baynanā wa-baynahum saddā
Translation:
They said, “O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?”
95. قَالَ مَا مَكَّنِّى فِيهِ رَبِّى خَيْرٌۭ فَأَعِينُونِى بِقُوَّةٍ أَجْعَلْ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ رَدْمًا
Transliteration:
Qāla mā makkannī fīhi rabbī khayrun fa-a‘īnūnī bi-quwwatin aj‘al baynakum wa-baynahum radmā
Translation:
He said, “That in which my Lord has established me is better [than what you offer], but assist me with strength; I will make between you and them a dam.”
96. ءَاتُونِى زُبَرَ ٱلْحَدِيدِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا سَاوَىٰ بَيْنَ ٱلصَّدَفَيْنِ قَالَ ٱنفُخُوا۟ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَعَلَهُۥ نَارًۭا قَالَ ءَاتُونِىٓ أُفْرِغْ عَلَيْهِ قِطْرًۭا
Transliteration:
Ātūnī zubara-l-ḥadīd ḥattā idhā sāwā bayna-ṣ-ṣadafayn qāla unfukhū ḥattā idhā ja‘alahu nāran qāla ātūnī ufrigh ‘alayhi qiṭrā
Translation:
Bring me sheets of iron”—until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls, he said, “Blow [with bellows],” until when he had made it [like] fire, he said, “Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper.”
97. فَمَا ٱسْطَـٰعُوٓا۟ أَن يَظْهَرُوهُ وَمَا ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ لَهُۥ نَقْبًۭا
Transliteration:
Fa-mā-sṭā‘ū an yaẓharūhu wa-mā-staṭā‘ū lahu naqba
Translation:
So they were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration.
98. قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَحْمَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّى ۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ رَبِّى جَعَلَهُۥ دَكَّآءَ ۖ وَكَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّى حَقًّۭا
Transliteration:
Qāla hādhā raḥmatun min rabbī fa-idhā jā’a wa‘du rabbī ja‘alahu dakkā’a wa-kāna wa‘du rabbī ḥaqqā
Translation:
[Dhul-Qarnayn] said, “This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord comes, He will make it level, and ever is the promise of my Lord true.”
99. وَتَرَكْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ يَمُوجُ فِى بَعْضٍۢ ۖ وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَجَمَعْنَـٰهُمْ جَمْعًۭا
Transliteration:
Wa-taraknā ba‘ḍahum yawma’idhin yamūju fī ba‘ḍi wa-nufikha fī-ṣ-ṣūri fa-jama‘nāhum jam‘ā
Translation:
And We will leave them that day surging over each other, and [then] the Horn will be blown, and We will assemble them in [one] assembly.
100. وَعَرَضْنَا جَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ عَرْضًا
Transliteration:
Wa-‘araḍnā jahannama yawma’idhin li-l-kāfirīna ‘arḍā
Translation:
And We will present Hell that Day to the disbelievers, on display
101. ٱلَّذِينَ كَانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ فِى غِطَآءٍ عَن ذِكْرِى وَكَانُوا۟ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَمْعًا
Transliteration:
Al-ladhīna kānat a‘yunuhum fī ghiṭā’in ‘an dhikrī wa-kānū lā yastaṭī‘ūna sam‘ā
Translation:
Those whose eyes had been within a cover [removed] from My remembrance, and they were not able to hear.
102. أَفَحَسِبَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَن يَتَّخِذُوا۟ عِبَادِى مِن دُونِىٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚ إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ نُزُلًۭا
Transliteration:
Afa-ḥasiba-l-ladhīna kafarū an yattakhidhū ‘ibādī min dūnī awliyā’ innā a‘tadnā jahannama li-l-kāfirīna nuzulā
Translation:
Then do those who disbelieve think that they can take My servants instead of Me as allies? Indeed, We have prepared Hell for the disbelievers as a lodging.
103. قُلْ هَلْ نُنَبِّئُكُم بِٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ أَعْمَـٰلًا
Transliteration:
Qul hal nunabbi’ukum bi-l-akhsarīna a‘mālā
Translation:
Say, “Shall we [believers] inform you of the greatest losers as to [their] deeds?
104. ٱلَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعْيُهُمْ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يُحْسِنُونَ صُنْعًا
Transliteration:
Al-ladhīna ḍalla sa‘yuhum fī-l-ḥayāti-d-dunyā wa-hum yaḥsabūna annahum yuḥsinūna ṣun‘ā
Translation:
[They are] those whose effort is lost in worldly life, while they think that they are doing well in work.”
105. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَلِقَآئِهِۦ فَحَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ فَلَا نُقِيمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ وَزْنًۭا
Transliteration:
Ūlā’ika-l-ladhīna kafarū bi-āyāti rabbihim wa-liqā’ihi fa-ḥabiṭat a‘māluhum fa-lā nuqīmu lahum yawma-l-qiyāmati waznā
Translation:
Those are the ones who disbelieve in the signs of their Lord and in [their] meeting Him, so their deeds have become worthless; and We will not assign to them on the Day of Resurrection any weight.
106. ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ بِمَا كَفَرُوا۟ وَٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَايَـٰتِى وَرُسُلِى هُزُوًا
Transliteration:
Dhālika jazā’uhum jahannamu bimā kafarū wa-ttakhadhū āyātī wa-rusulī huzūā
Translation:
That is their recompense—Hell—for what they denied and [because] they took My signs and My messengers in ridicule.
107. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتُ ٱلْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا
Transliteration:
Inna-l-ladhīna āmanū wa-‘amilū-ṣ-ṣāliḥāti kānat lahum jannātu-l-firdawsi nuzulā
Translation:
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds— they will have the Gardens of Paradise as a lodging,
108. خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يَبْغُونَ عَنْهَا حِوَلًۭا
Transliteration:
Khālidīna fīhā lā yabghūna ‘anhā ḥiwalā
Translation:
Wherein they abide eternally. They will not desire from it any transfer.
109. قُل لَّوْ كَانَ ٱلْبَحْرُ مِدَادًۭا لِّكَلِمَـٰتِ رَبِّى لَنَفِدَ ٱلْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَن تَنفَدَ كَلِمَـٰتُ رَبِّى وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِۦ مَدَدًۭا
Transliteration:
Qul law kāna-l-baḥru midādan li-kalimāti rabbī la-nafida-l-baḥru qabla an tanfada kalimātu rabbī wa-law ji’nā bi-mithlihi madadā
Translation:
Say, “If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement.”
110. قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌۭ وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ فَمَن كَانَ يَرْجُوا۟ لِقَآءَ رَبِّهِۦ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًۭا صَـٰلِحًۭا وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ أَحَدًۢا
Transliteration:
Qul innamā anā basharun mithlukum yūḥā ilayya annamā ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥid fa-man kāna yarjū liqā’a rabbihi fa-l-ya‘mal ‘amalan ṣāliḥan wa-lā yushrik bi-‘ibādati rabbihi aḥadā
Translation:
Say, “I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord—let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.

1- Protection from Anti-Christ
It is transmitted in a Hadith that the person who has memorized the first ten verses of Surah Khaf will be protected from the trial of Anti-Christ. We recommend every Muslim to memorize 10 Verses of Surah al-Kahf.
Hadith: Abu al-Dardā’ reported that the Messenger of Allah PBUH said: “Whoever memorizes the first ten verses from Sūrat al-Kahf (The Cave) will be protected from the Dajjāl.” —Sahih Muslim 809

2- The first few Surahs of Quran
The Holy Propeht (PBUH) mentioned that Surah Kahf is among the oldest chapters of the Holy Quran, which he memorized.
Hadith: Narrated Ibn Mas`ud: Surat Bani Israel and Al-Kahf and Mary are among my first old property. —Sahih al-Bukhari 4708
In another hadith, it is mentioned that Surah Kahf was among the oldest verses sent down upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The other Surahs are Suras of Bani Israel, Mariyam, Taha and Al-Anbiya.
Hadith: Narrated `Abdullah: The Suras of Bani Israel, Al-Kahf, Mariyam, Taha and Al-Anbiya are from the very old Suras which I learnt by heart, and they are my first property. —Sahih al-Bukhari 4739
3- Reciting Surah Kahf on Friday
It is narrated that the Holy Propehet (PBUH) adviced his belivers to recite Surah Kahf on Friday. It wil result in a light which will shine for him till the next friday.
Light in this Hadith means the reader will see Allah’s clear path and will not be affected by Shaytaan. Here is the dua for Jumma Mubarak which you can recite on Friday.
Hadith: It was reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Whoever reads Sūrat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him between the two Fridays.” Reference: Mustadrak al-Hakim; Sahih at-Targhib wa at-Tarhib 736
Another Hadith mentioned the recitation of Surah Kahf on Friday night, which is Thursday night.
Hadith: It was reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever reads Sūrat al-Kahf on the night of Jumu’ah, a light will shine for him which extends from him to the Ancient House (i.e., the Kaʿbah).” —Virtues of the Qur’an’s Chapters and Verses 37
4- Surah al-Kahf as dua for peace
A man was reciting Surah Kahf when a cloud came and overshadowed him. A horse tied near because frightened as the cloud came nearer. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) commented that the cloud was nothing but tranquility which came down becasue of Surah Khaf and the recitation of the Holy Quran. You can also recite the tasbih e Fatima for peace and prosparity.
Hadith: Al-Bara’ reported that a person was reciting Surat al-Kahf and there was a horse tied with two ropes at his side, a cloud overshadowed him, and as it began to come nearer and nearer his horse began to take fright from it. He went and mentioned that to the Prophet (PBUH) in the morning, and he (the Holy Prophet) said: That was tranquillity which came down at the recitation of the Qur’an. —Sahih Muslim 795a
