Best Dua for a good day

There is no specific dua in the Hadith for a good day. However, there is one supplication: the Holy Prophet (PBUH) recited in the morning and evening to have a blessed day.

In the Morning

اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا وَبِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ

Translation: O Allah, by You we enter the morning, and by You we enter the evening, and be You we live, and by You we died, and to You is the Return

In the Evening

للَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُورُ

Translation: O Allah, by You we enter the evening, and by You we enter the morning, and by You we live, and by You we die, and to You is the Resurrection

Hadith: Abu Hurairah (ra) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to teach his Companions, saying: “When one of you reached the morning, then let him say: ‘Allāhumma bika aṣbaḥnā wa bika amsainā wa bika naḥyā wa bika namūtu wa ilaikal-maṣīr’. And when he reaches the evening let him say: ‘Allāhumma bika amsainā wa bika aṣbaḥnā wa bika naḥyā wa bika namūtu wa ilaikan-nushūr.’”

Explanation: These were the supplications made by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in the morning and evening to have a blessed day. We should follow the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) and recite these supplications for a good day.

In this dua for a successful day, we are thanking Allah for giving us another day to live. We are also admitting that He is the owner of our souls, which will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment. This supplication is also a reminder of death and the afterlife. Additionally, we have prepared a dua for the deceased, which you can recite for your loved ones who have departed from this world.

Dua for good days in English: Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu lahu al-mulku walahu al-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr. Rabbi asʾaluka khayra mā fī hādhihi al-laylah wa khayra mā baʿdahā, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhihi al-laylah wa sharri mā baʿdahā. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika mina al-kasali wa min sūʾi al-kibri aw al-kufr. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābin fī an-nār wa ʿadhābin fī al-qabr.

Translation: There is no god but Allah alone who has no partner; to him belongs the dominion, to him praise is due, and He is omnipotent. O Allah! I ask thee for the good of what this night contains, and the good of what comes after it; and I seek refuge in Thee from the evil of what this night contains, and from the evil of what comes after it. My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from indolence, the evil of old age or of disbelief. My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from a punishment in Hell and a punishment in the grave.

Hadith: Abd Allah (b. Mas’ud) told that when the evening came, the prophet (May peace be upon him) would say: we have come to the evening, and in the evening the dominion belongs to Allah: “Praise be to Allah; there is no god but Allah alone who has no partner”. The version of Jarir adds: Zubaid said that Ibrahim b. Suwaid said: Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu lahu al-mulku walahu al-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr. Rabbi asʾaluka khayra mā fī hādhihi al-laylah wa khayra mā baʿdahā, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā fī hādhihi al-laylah wa sharri mā baʿdahā. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika mina al-kasali wa min sūʾi al-kibri aw al-kufr. Rabbi aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābin fī an-nār wa ʿadhābin fī al-qabr.

In the morning, he said that also: we have come to the morning, and in the morning, the dominion belongs to Allah. Abu Dawud said: Shu’bah transmitted from Salamah b. Kuhail, from Ibrahim b. Suwaid, saying: from the evil of old age. He did not mention the evil of disbelief. —Sunan Abi Dawud 5071
